passed away peacefully Monday, September 25, 2017 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Va. Elder Peeples was born December 7, 1929 in Boykins, Virginia to the late Glennie and Eddie Peeples.
Elder Peeples attended the South Hampton Public School system in Boykins, Va. Later he joined the United States Army where he served for three years, then went on to driving long distance trucks for AW Temple for 10years. Elder Peeples was also employed by the Newport News Shipbuilding.
Elder Peeples received Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late General Overseer Mable R. Hargrove at Zion of Joy Church of Deliverance, Newport News, Va. After being called to the ministry, he later became an Elder, then Overseer Mable R. Hargrove installed him as Assistant Pastor of Zion of Joy Church of Deliverance, where he served faithfully for 32 years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Alton Taylor; his daughter, Wanda S. Smith; his sisters, Glennie Hopkins, Rennie White, and Lena Peeples; his brothers, Clarence Peeples, Jonah Peeples, Woodard Peeples.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Mother Vivian Peeples; his daughters, Maxine Taylor, JoAnne McKinnon (Jerry), Sonja Goldstone, Tammie Hargrove, Scarlette Allen (Anthony), Nisheeta Peeples (Dante'); his sons, Barry Peeples, Andrew Peeples, Jr. (Miesha), Everette Peeples; 44 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church families and many friends.
Viewing will be held 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, NN, Va. 23607. His Homegoing Celebration will take place 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2017 at First Baptist Church East End, 3000 Jefferson Ave., NN, Va. The Interment will take place 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2017 at Hampton Memorial Gardens, Hpt, Va.
