Earl P.
Sargent
d. Feb 4, 2025
Earl Percell Sargent, 57 , peacefully slipped into eternal rest on the evening of February 4, 2025. Earl was born on November 16, 1967 to the late Charles Branch, Jr. and the late Delores Gray in Hampton, Va. As a native of Hampton, Va, he graduated from Bethel High School in 1986. He continued his education and earned a bachelor's degree from Norfolk State University. While there, Earl was part of the Spartan Legion Marching Band, where he was part of the drum line (MDFS). He also was a proud member of the Iota Xi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, which he was one of the Charter Members and Founding Fathers of the Chapter at Norfolk State University. Earl was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He never missed a chance for some friendly banter with fans of opposing teams, bringing humor and passion to every game day.
Earl was a devoted follower of Christ and a pillar of faith within the House of Refuge Worship Center in Newport News, VA. Earl was not only a founding member of the ministry but also one of its first Deacons—serving with unwavering commitment and becoming the longest-standing Deacon in the church's history. His life was a testament to his deep love for God and his dedication to serving others. Whether through his prayers, wisdom, or acts of kindness, Earl embodied the true heart of a servant, always leading by example with humility and grace. His faith never wavered, and his presence brought encouragement and strength to all who knew him.
Earl's memory will be cherished by all who loved him, but especially by his devoted family, who were blessed by his guidance, love and unwavering faith. He is survived by his wife, Alesia J. Sargent; his son, Aron Sargent-Mooring (NaTasha) of Suffolk, VA; his daughters, Jayla Sargent, Joelle Sargent & Jordan Sargent of Hampton, VA; his grandchildren, Avery Grace Sargent of Danville, VA and Thomas Earl Sargent of Suffolk, VA; his siblings, Vernon Sargent (Amy) of Akron, OH, Linda Roberts (Richard, deceased), Ellen Robinson (Abdurrahim), Sharon Lowther (Stephen, deceased), and Charles Branch, III (Doris, deceased) all of Hampton, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Though Earl has gone to be with the Lord, his legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to inspire generations to come. We honor and cherish the impact he made in our lives, knowing that he now rests in the eternal embrace of his Savior.
