It is with great sorrow that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend Douglas "Doug" Brown of Newport News, Virginia.  Doug was born March 16, 1954 to George A. Brown and Frances Christian.  Doug departed this side of heaven on January 23, 2025.  He was reared in Bronx, New York, where he attended public school. Doug and his family relocated to Virginia in 1985. Upon relocation, he was employed by EG&G Contractors at NASA Langley as a painter and sandblaster.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George A. Brown and Frances Christian; his son, Douglas S. Long; four brothers: Lester Lewis, Alfred Ricketts, Harold Gates, and William "Bill" Brown; and four sisters: Frances Lewis, Marilyn Ricketts, Inez Pierce and Joyce Lee.  He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Beatrice; two children, Atima T. Long (daughter) and Supreme Lee (son); four grandchildren: Elizabeth Long, Tawanda Freeman, Tashawn Freeman, and Raymond Freeman; and seven great-grandchildren: Maklaya Freeman, Aria Freeman, Mason Freeman, Amelia Freeman, Amy Freeman, Zamir Freeman, and Zamaya Freeman; four sisters:  Deloris Ricketts, Diane Rainey, Lorraine Rainey, and Loretta Rainey; and four brothers: George Brown Jr., Sherman Brown, Tyrone Brown and David Brown; a special friend, Glendora Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.

What a beautiful offering when Doug gave his life to the Lord.  Now he will forever live with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025 at  Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va.
