Dion J. McCallum, as he was affectionately called by many as "D", born October 8, 1978. Dion departed this life at the age of 47, Friday, February 6, 2026 at Sentara Regency Hospital in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Dion J. McCallum was born to the late Deborah J. McCallum and the late Aton Owens of Hampton, Virginia. Raised by his loving grandparents, the late Archie B. and Kathrine McCallum of Hampton, Virginia. Dion attended Hampton Public Schools, never married and no children.
Dion loved drawing. He was very good. At the age of 10, his art drawings was submitted to the Art School in New York. The school sent a letter saying, he had great potential to become an artist. In Dion teenage years, his interest were listening to rappers, telling jokes and playing basketball.
Dion had a heart of "Gold". If someone asked or needed anything, he would give it to them, not expecting a payback. He loved shopping, buying outfits with matching tennis shoes. He loved spoiling his cousins when he had money, taking them to the corner store, Hardee's to buy whatever they wanted.
Dion was a loving son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin, a great friend. He had a special bond with his younger cousins, Maleeyah and Majie, they visit every 2 weeks in Williamsburg. He loved when Shatara and Janiyla visit him for Thanksgiving from Florida. He enjoyed Aunt Regina and Darnell weekly visits and eat-outs. They would take him to stores, sit and talk.
Dion is survived by his brothers, Devon McCallum, Darnell McCallum; sisters, Tameka Wright, and Shena McCallum; aunts, Regina McCallum, Mary Ross; uncles, Leroy McCallum (Liona), and Reginald McCallum; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
A wake service will be held Friday, February 20, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. 23607.
The family of Dion J. McCallum acknowledges with grateful appreciation, all expressions of kindness extended during our bereavement after the demise of our loved one. Your thoughtfulness will always be treasured and remembered. We pray God blessing upon you and your family.
