Dillon Witherspoon Sr . was born on May 8, 1930 in Newport News, Va and departed for glory on the morning of May 14, 2025.  Dillon was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosa Witherspoon, his siblings;  Carl Witherspoon, John Witherspoon Jr., Evelyn Baker, Amanda Orie and Mildred Bell.

He survived by his sons, Keith Witherspoon (Sandy), Adrian Rice, Dillon Jr., John Witherspoon (Shanita), Dion Witherspoon (Amaris), daughters; The Honorable Sandra Witherspoon (Dwayne) and Sharon Witherspoon Pope,  grandchildren; Shari Pope Williams (Kendra), Raven, Aveah and Alana Witherspoon, and Desmond Wood, nieces and nephews; Virginia Dilday, Koret Ford, Marvin Baker, Charles Frison, and Edward Witherspoon, and long time special friend Carolyn Rice and numerous other family members.

Viewing will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. 23607. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the chapel. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
