Diane T. Walker 7/26/1950 — 8/10/2024

Diane T. Walker of Newport News, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 10, 2024.  She was born Diane Martin on July 26, 1950, a daughter of Earnest Dean Martin and Mary Martin (née Blue), from Martinsville, Virginia and Maxton, North Carolina, respectively.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Lee Martin and Ernestine A. Martin.  She is survived by: her brother, Ernest Martin; her husband, Horace A. Walker, Jr.; her sons, Rodney Taro Walker and Gowon C. Walker; and her grandchildren and great grand-children.

Scores of other family members, friends, and colleagues will also miss Mrs. Walker, who mentored and guided them with her wisdom and steadiness, and generously supported them in times of need.

After attending Huntington High School, she studied in programs at Langley, and also briefly held jobs driving a truck and a taxi-cab, which she loved to recall with jokes about her experience.  But her 29-year career at AAFES was distinguished and celebrated.  Over the years, she worked for numerous Exchanges across Germany and the Peninsula.  When she retired in 2014, she had been working at Ft. Eustis.  Private services were conducted by Cooke Brothers Funeral Chapel.
