Obituary

Diane Elaine Doswell , also known as "Momma D", of Hampton, VA, was called to her eternal peaceful home on Friday, December 13, 2024. She was born on July 3, 1971 to James Lee Adams and Cynthia Lane Adams.

She accepted Jesus as her Personal Lord and Savior.  She was baptized at Calvary Community Church (C3-Hampton), where she remained a faithful member, an active part of First Impressions, the Resource Hub and she also served in various capacities throughout the church assisting with logistics as needed.  She was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Diane was educated in the Hampton City Public School System where she proudly graduated from Kecoughtan High School and then attended ECPI.  She was an essential employee with the City of Hampton at the Department of Human Services for over 30+ years.  When it came to work, Diane was beyond devoted, faithful, a genius at figuring everything out, motivated, very driven and committed to always serve.  It wasn't just a job to her, it was her second family.  It is here, that she earned the nickname "Yellow" (M&M) given to her by her closest colleagues (Red, Green and Blue).

One of her biggest joys was Dance Fitness with her son "Zumbaman Mike'' and the entire Zumba family.  It all began with Aunt Pam's Zumba class at the West Hampton Community Center and it continued to evolve.  Her dance fitness family grew to be a huge part of her heart.

Diane was the organizer and "Fun Captain" especially in her family but also in every encounter that she had.  Her smile was infectious and laugh was contagious and could be heard from afar.  One of her greatest joys was having a good time and being surrounded with love and laughter and she often did so with her "sissas".

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Doswell, son, Michael Adams, grandmother, Mildred "Bootsie" Whitley, uncle, David "Chicken" Whitley Jr and nephew, Ja'Quan Marquise Brown.

Diane leaves to cherish fond memories, her loving and supportive mother, Cynthia Adams, father, James Adams, devoted son, Marquise Adams, her Boo-Boo (grandson), Averi Adams, stepdaughter, Crystal Nixon, brother, James "Pinky" Adams (Keyla), nephew, Kasaun "NuNu" Brown, niece, Kearra (Marquise) Easter, Special Aunt/Sister/Friend, Pam Dougoud and a hosts of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
