Desmond Lamont Nichols, fondly known as Rowa, was a remarkable individual whose life touched everyone around him. Born on January 23, 1987, in Newport News, Virginia, Desmond was a beloved son to John and Kimberly Nichols.

Desmond attended Newport News Public Schools. His life journey was marked by dedication and service, as he proudly served in the United States Army, including deployments in Afghanistan and The Global War on Terrorism.

Desmond found joy in working on cars and trucks, a passion he shared with friends and family. He was an active member of a local motorcycle club, where his adventurous spirit shone brightly.

Desmond's cherished legacy continues through his parents and children.

Montrell, Winter, and Ivron Nichols, his sister Porsche Nichols, his loving fiancé Rashane Hurst, and his Grandparents Sam and Gail Seay and the late Christine Howell. Alongside a large extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Desmond's life was a blessing, and his memory is treasured by all who knew him. He is deeply loved and will be missed beyond measure, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Viewing will be held Wednesday, August 12 , 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street. A funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Thursday, August 13, 2026 at the chapel. Interment will be held at a later date in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
