Derrick Winston Outlaw was born June 12, 1965 to the late Evelyn Bernice (BeBe) and Frank Winston Outlaw Sr. Derrick peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, January 21, 2024 after a battle with brain cancer. Derrick gave his life to the Lord on October 21, 2023 and was baptized on January 9, 2024 at Riverside Memorial Hospital.
Derrick grew up in Newport News Virginia and receive his education in the Newport News public school system. Derrick was the owner and operator of "B&G Neighborhood Lawn Care Service - No job too big or small, we do it all!" His work was his advertisement.
Derrick, also known as "Buck" , was a hard worker, a protector, a provider, and a jokester. He also was an easy-going, gentle and loving person. He was a strong life mentor for his sons, nephews and the young men in the neighborhood. His home was a place for fellowship, when weather permitted, Derrick will be seen cooking on the grill or sitting in the front yard entertaining family and friends. Derrick loved San Francisco 49ers, his favorite professional football team. Also, he got his groove on listening to his favorite artist, Usher singing "Superstar " ! In his quiet time, he would listen to Rance Allen Group singing… "That Will Be Good Enough For Me".
Derrick was proceeded in death by his parents, Evelyn Bernice (BeBe) and Frank W. Outlaw Sr, three sisters; Ophelia Brooks, Tootie Outlaw Jones Watson, and Bernice Mozell Joyner; two brothers Frank W. Outlaw, Jr and Joe Davis Outlaw Sr.
Derrick leaves to cherish his memories, Tonya Herbert, his fiancé, that was by his side, every day until the end. The mother's of his children Donna Dabney and Julie Richardson. His loving daughter, KeAuna Richmond of GA, his outstanding sons, Jaquan (Jody) Outlaw of FL, Jaleel (Kiary) Outlaw of VA, Jermaine (Sherrelle) Dabney of GA, and Trae Richmond of VA; his nurturing, Sister, Claretta Battle, and 2 superstar Brothers, Cedric (Shawanda) Outlaw and Andrew Woods of VA; his three precious grandchildren, Kamille Gilchrist, Kassidy Morris and Ezra Outlaw; He also leaves a loving host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews, and other relatives and a host of friends.
Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2024 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Restoration and Faith Ministries. Interment will be in Pleasant Shade Cemetery.
