Derek Alonzo Fitchett peacefully passed away on December 17, 2025, in Woodbridge, Virginia, surrounded by family. Derek was a well-known master electrician and a mentor to many young men. He was born on August 20, 1962, in Hampton, Virginia, to the late Glander Fitchett and Edith Fitchett.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Amina Mitchell and Charnise Joyner; his siblings, Elvira Henry (Thomas), Venessa Prescott-Griffin (Richard), and Glander Fitchett Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Yvonne Batts and Gloria Bigger.

Viewing will be Sunday, December 21, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. 23607. A funeral service will be held 12 Noon Monday, December 22, 2025 at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
