Deacon Anthony
Dexter Stith
d. Nov 30, 2024
Anthony Dexter Stith, affectionately known as "Tony" entered eternal rest in the comfort of his home on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
He was born April 6, 1955, to the late Nelson Stith and Dorothy Williams Stith in Newport News, Virginia. Tony grew up in a loving and nurturing household, where his parents instilled in him values of hard work, faith and community service.
Upon graduating from Hampton High School in 1973, he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country. His work ethics enabled him to wear many hats, mainly working as a security specialist for various local companies. Later he started his own business - Anthony's Painting.
One of the greatest joys in Tony's life was marrying the love of his life, Geraldine Yarborough Stith on September 21, 1974. They shared a beautiful companionship for over fifty years, raising two loving sons. Together they attended church, dressed alike, travelled, entertained family and friends with delicious meals prepared by him and watched his favorite sports team the Washington Commanders and Los Angeles Lakers. Tony was a faithful member of Zion Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee, Deacon and a member of the male chorus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Gloria Darden and LaVern Burch.
He leaves to honor his memory and carry on his legacy to his devoted wife, Geraldine Y. Stith; sons, Anthony D. Stith II, Shaun Stith (Dawn); sisters, Dorothy Lattimore and Michelle Stith; brothers, William Stith and Ronnie Stith; grandchildren, Trinity, Justin and Marquise; sisters-in-law, Shirley, Ella (Rudy), Carolyn (Barry) and Brenda; brother-in-law, Charles Darden; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and especially his loyal canine, Buster.
