Retired U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant David Perry, 84, passed away on Saturday, August15, 2026.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert George Perry and Jeanette White Perry, his brother, Herbert George Perry, and his sister, Juanita Chandler.

David is survived by his daughters: Daveda Macklin and Belinda Smith Ashby; siblings: Elsie Daniels, Gayle Cheeks, Alroy Perry, and Bettina Sellers; grandchildren: Joseph Perry, Crystal Perry, Anita Smith and Joseph Macklin II; 18 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

David grew up in Newport News, Virginia, graduated from Huntington High School, and proudly served his country in the Air Force as a flight engineer where he maintained aircraft systems as they flew around the world on assignments.

David loved snowbirding in his RV in Florida during the winter with his friends and pets, as well as attending comedy shows, riding his motorcycles and assisting his church family in Ohio with lawncare. David was a cherished and generous friend to many.  We cherish his memory.

Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2026 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.  The repast will be immediately after the service.  Interment will be held in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA at a later date.
