On Friday, June 14, 2024, our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend David Anthony Jones entered eternal rest at Riverside Medical Center. David was born on October 17, 1960 to Fred and Catherine Jones in Columbia, North Carolina.

David joined Zion Grove Church of Christ at an early age. David graduated from Columbia High School in 1978. He enjoyed high school and was a fun loving student who played on the football team. After High School, David enlisted in the United States Air Force as an Administrative Specialist. He was stationed at Homestead Air Force Base, Miami Fl; also Lowry Air Force Base, Denver Co; and completed a tour of duty at Suwon Republic of Korea Air Base in June of 1984.

David served five years in the USAF, separating and the joining Army Department of Civil Service in December of 1984 at Fort Monroe, Virginia. David retired in March of 2023 after 42 years of combined federal service at Fort Eustis, V.

David was a fun loving, trusting, hardworking man, who loved family and friends dearly. David loved the RAIDERS football team with passion from 10 years old! He loved to fish anytime, anywhere with his fishing buddies (Mike, Terry, and Christine).  He loved meeting new people and he never met a stranger. He was an expert at planning family reunions and parties, very detail oriented. He loved to travel and see new places. David was always there to lend a helping hand or word of advice to his family and friends, and he usually gave good advice!

David was a loving and devoted husband to Debra Jones of Yorktown, VA for 32 years and together they have two daughters, Diondra Brown (Rashaad) of Hampton, VA and Tayler Jones of Alexandria, VA; Sisters, Barbara Spencer of Columbia, NC; Jackie Blount (Robert) of Philadelphia, PA;  Shirley Blount (Melvin) of Engelhardt, NC; Sister in Laws, Kimberly Washington of Newport News, VA, Shelly Wright of Newport News, VA; Brother in Law, William Washington of Newport News, VA.Beloved Grandsons, Jaylon ,Ezekiel, and Cairo; Beloved Granddaughters, Aniyah and Aaliyah. Special Friends Olian (Barbara) Spencer of Columbia, NC; Elizabeth Spencer of Columbia, NC; Donald Ray Basnight of Columbia, NC; Lorenzo Woodley of Newport News, VA; Terry Delk of Boston, MA; Mike Campbell (Darlinda)of Hampton, VA; James Johnson, Opelousas, Louisiana; Sherman Raglon, Las Vegas, Nevada.

David was preceded in death by his parents Catherine and Fred Jones; Grandparents Sarah and Haywood Leigh; Two Brothers, Russell Jones, Gregory Jones and numerous other family members.

David had a wonderful smile and was greatly loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2024 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. 23607.
