Darien Lacy Grady was born on June 9, 1993, in Irvington, NJ., to Darryl Grady Sr., and the late Kim Grady. On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Darien suddenly departed this life at the young age of 30 yrs. old.
He was educated in the Upper Montclair school system, where he participated in his favorite sport, football, and later received his GED through Job Corps in 2011. Darien was very skilled in landscaping and contracting, which he developed under the leadership of his dad, Darryl Grady Sr. Darien relocated to Hampton, VA. in 2018 where he worked as a Landscaper. Even though Darien struggled over the years dealing with the loss of his older brother, and mother, he was finally in a place where he was starting to excel and was very proud of himself. One of Darien's last messages stated, " I'M BACK and I'M BETTER , BETTER THAN EVER."
He was predeceased by his mother Kim Grady, his oldest brother Kyle Smith, and his grandfather Ronald Grady.
Darien had an affectionate heart, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed watching his favorite NFL football team, the Minnesota Vikings, and enjoying a good laugh when his father's team the Cowboys would lose to his Vikings. His siblings and cousins were his best friends.
Darien Lacy Grady leaves to cherish his fond memories, his father, Darryl Lacy Grady (LaKeisha); his siblings, Myeisha Grady, Darryl Grady, Jr, Quamara Grady, Khabirah Matthews; his grandmother, Norma Smith; his aunts, Sandra Smith, Jennifer Smith, Jennifer Scott (Jeffrey), Lynn Grady-Cosby (Henry), Shakira Grady (Dre); his uncle, Ronald Grady Jr.; his nieces, Kyla and Patience; his nephew, Jaquece; cousins, Micheal, Alecia, Adrian, Mitchell, Jason, Scottie, Kalia, Petty Officer 2ND Class Brandon, Brevon, Bryan, Dr. Nazirah, Nadirah, and Terrell. Darien also shared a place in his heart for Khalia, a special close friend. A host of very close cousins, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Transformation Life Church in Hampton, VA. Repass will follow after the service at Transformation Life Church.
