Cleveland Kirkman, Jr. was born on November 10, 1958, in Newport News, Virginia, to Cleveland Kirkman Sr. and Agatha Jones. He was raised in the Hampton Roads area and graduated from Bethel High School.
Following graduation, Cleveland proudly served in the United States Army from 1979 to 1985. After completing his military service, he began his civilian career with Baker Sheet Metal in Norfolk, Virginia, where he remained a dedicated and hardworking employee for many years. In his downtime, he enjoyed fishing, playing chess and cards and of course bringing the family together by cooking his signature Potato Salad.
In 2002, Cleveland met the love of his life, Gloria Miller. Their relationship blossomed over the years, and they were united in marriage in May 2017, sharing a bond built on love, companionship, and devotion.
Cleveland peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on March 28, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland Kirkman Sr. and Agatha Jones; and his brother, Gary Kirkman.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Gloria M. Kirkman; his daughter, Eva Noel; his son, Cleveland Kirkman III; his brothers, Jimmy and Gilbert Kirkman; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
Cleveland will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, infectious energy, strong will, and unwavering commitment to those he loved. Above all, he was known for his kind and generous heart.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Viewing will be held, Friday, April 10, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the chapel. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
