In Loving Memory of Charmaine Patricia Butts
Charmaine "Miss Pat" Butts was a beacon of kindness and compassion. She departed this world on August 5th, 2023 at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy that is woven into the lives of countless individuals who were fortunate enough to cross her path. She was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School (Trojans)- Class of 1970, afterwards attending Norfolk State University where she was proud to be called a Spartan!
Born on April 27th 1952, in Newport News, VA, Charmaine was a shining example of the power of empathy and love. Throughout her life she often exhibited selfless acts of kindness. Her warm smile and genuine concern for others were a source of comfort and inspiration for all who had the privilege of knowing her. Charmaine possessed an innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Her unwavering support and willingness to lend a helping hand made her a pillar of her community.
Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family and closest friends, radiating kindness to strangers and acquaintances alike. She believed that even the smallest acts of kindness had the power to create ripples of positive change. Her "800 Block of 35th Street Neighbors" are a living example of how one person can spread love and joy throughout an entire neighborhood. They loved Miss Pat because her love for them was so strong. It was real, it was genuine, it was infectious.
Charmaine is survived by her mother, Viola Tobias Plenty, her sisters Pastor/Overseer Julia Butts Henson (Ken), Gail Pauling, Minister Valarie Plenty Chester (Tony), Deaconess Tina Plenty Robinson (Harold), and Dr. Angela Butts Chester along with a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. Her Godmother Lois Cordell Blair,her #1Godson, Shyteek and from "The Neighborhood", her self appointed little husband aka Bad Boy, 4 year old Justin.
She was preceded in death by her Daddy: Matthew Washington Plenty, Sr., her Brother: Matthew Washington Plenty, Jr. and her natural father: Robert Guilford Butts, III.
In celebration of her life, a viewing (9am - 11am) and funeral service immediately afterwards on Monday, August 14th, 2023 will be held at Greater Walters A.M.E. Zion Church, 656-28th Street, Newport News, VA to honor and remember this remarkable woman who graced our lives with her presence.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer green plants as they speak life.
