We think about you always, we talk about you still, You have never been forgotten, and you never will. We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain, to walk and guide us through our lives, until we meet again.
On a beautiful spring day, April 4, 1956, in Hampton Virginia, Elizabeth and Carroll Fowlkes, both of whom have preceded in her death, was blessed with a beautiful daughter . They named her Chandra means "bright, shining or glittering ". She was one of three daughters born to this union. Holding true to her name. She would light up when family and friends were around.
Chandra came to know Christ in the tenderness of her teens years, at Riverside Baptist Church, Hampton, Va, and was equippyfor her journey of life through her education in in Hampton City Schools. Her love for God was imprinted by her impact for her love for people. A love that she would come to know in her rites of passage in becoming a mother.
Her children rise up and call her blessed. Chandra gave birth to two beautiful children Cherlanda J. And Shaun D.O. Fowlkes. Her legacy lives on within them.
Chandra was a loving and caring woman of wisdom with a smile that was contagious. She loved laughing with family and friends. She could talk to you for hours. She loved talking about God, history, politics, and food. She gave 25 years of her life serving the educational system. She was a pre k through third grade teacher at Holloman private child care in Hampton Virginia. She loved children and she truly enjoyed teaching. She loved teaching her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was crafty and loved making flower arrangements. Chandra truly loved her family and would always say " there's nothing like family". She enjoyed going to family gatherings. The laughter was the highlight she would always say. Her children and nieces and nephews kept her laughing. That was what she loved most.
Chandra left the legacy her light to shine through her children, Cherlanda J. Fowlkes and Shaun D. O. Fowlkes. Her love will forever shine through her grandchildren Amir, Shaun, Ayonna, Alexis, Avionna and Shyheim. Her memory shall be cherished by them, her loving sister Carol M. Watson and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 12 Noon, Monday, January 22, 2024 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News,Va. 23607
