Catherine Marie
Meckley
d. Feb 12, 2025
Catherine M. Meckley was born on April 20, 1959, in Richmond, Virginia, and left to be with the Lord on February 12, 2025. She was a graduate of Bethel High School, class of 1977. To her family she was known as "Rita". To her departed husband, friends, and work colleagues she was known as "Cathy". She also picked up the nick name "Little Mama" from her closest friends. Cathy worked for 16 years as a Resident Manager with Mini Price Self Storage, before that she worked for many years at the Newport News Shipyard.
Rita, as we fondly call her, has always been a kindhearted person who would go out of her way to help family members and friends. She would go out of her way to help others, even when she was not feeling well. If she told you she would do something you can best believe she would do it. She was a dog lover Chewy, Patti (named after Patti Labelle), and her most recent Logan. She loved music, dancing, and spending time at the clubs with her friends. Her all-time favorite music to listen to was from Michael Jackson. Anytime she would ride in her car she would blast her Michael Jackson CD's. She made a difference in all the lives she touched, and she will be greatly missed by us all.
Catherine was proceeded in death by her husband, Daniel Meckley, her parents Herbert and Lessie Simms, mother-in-law Patricia Meckley, grandparents, and most of her aunts and uncles. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her father-in-law John Meckley, her sisters and their spouses Jean Simms, Barbara Simms, and LaVerne Dakers (Todd), her nieces Sierra, Monique (Nicholas), Sidney, Sophie, Hannah, Lily, her nephews Terrell, Max, and Ben, a great niece Kaylee, two great nephews Joey and David, three Aunts Pasty Evans (Clarence), Nancy Parsley (Webb), and Betty Stiles, an Uncle Wallace, a special friend Tino Woods, and a host of cousins and friends.
