Mrs. Catherine Duncan Jolly , was called home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 to be with our Father.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and three brothers.  She was born May 16, 1943 in Greenville, SC.  She attended Sterling High School.  While attending school, Catherine participated in the early civil rights movement in 1960 in Greenville, SC., in the Woolworth lunch counter sit-in.

She graduated from the University of Maryland and joined Mentor.  She received honors from the mentor program.  She was living in New York where she met and later married George L. Jolly on November 17, 1965.  From this union they have three children, Tia Jolly born July 17, 1967, Lisa Matos born March 17, 1972 and Khwan Jolly born August 26, 1978.

Aside from her husband and children, she leaves to cherish her memory, a sister Corine Grizzel; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Tuesday, March 14,2023 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street. Newport News,VA. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
