Betty June
Davis
d. Mar 20, 2023
Betty June Isbell Davis was born on July 23, 1938 to the late James Lillard Isbell Sr. and Ada Polly Horton Isbell in Caldwell County, North Carolina. She departed this life and entered into eternal rest on March 20, 2023, in Hampton, Virginia.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
II Timothy 4:7
Betty was the oldest daughter of nine children born to her parents. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Sr., Theodore "Ted", Phillip and her sister, Norma Jean. She was preceded in death by husband Marion Davis.
Betty retired from Hampton City Schools as a secretary in the Guidance Department at Hampton High School. She also worked many, many years at the Langley AFB, Noncommissioned Officers Club (NCO), where she made lifelong friends and cultivated her skill for making friends out of strangers; she could strike up a conversation with anyone and make them her buddy in a minute.
She attended Carver Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she was a faithful and enthusiastic member. Wherever there was a need, large or small, Betty was tireless.
She will be remembered for her smile, caring nature and the way she made everyone feel special.
Her life and legacy will be an everlasting testament to the power of love, generosity, service and her unwavering faith in God. We have no doubt that she is having a grand old time, reuniting with family and friends, laughing and singing songs of praise; residing in the glow of the Lord's infinite love and understanding.
It gives us immense comfort knowing that she is in heaven.
Betty is survived by two daughters Deborah Davis Poole, Hampton, VA and Alison Davis-Tariq (Zaheer), Norfolk, VA; grandsons Derek Poole Sr. (Aieshia), Omar Tariq, Desmond Savage and granddaughter Nia Tariq. Two great-grandchildren, Michelle Poole and Derek Poole Jr. She is also survived by her brothers, Harold and George Isbell Sr., sisters Jessie Pope and Azalea Berry, and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends who love her deeply and will miss her greatly.
