In Loving Memory of Beatrice Euzelia Jones

Beatrice Euzelia Jones , known affectionately as Mother Jones by her church family, (Sista) by her family, peacefully departed this life on January 7th, 2024, in her Hampton, Virginia home.  Born on June 28th, 1930, in Nash County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Richard Ricks and Louisiana Pridgeon Ricks.

Beatrice attended Spalding Elementary School in Spring Hope, North Carolina and later began work as a domestic maid while raising a family.  Beatrice went back to school and became a dedicated Nursing Assistant at Riverside Hospital, simultaneously serving as a part-time school bus driver for the City of Hampton, and small business owner.  She took great pride in her dual roles, ultimately retiring in1985.

A woman of deep faith, Beatrice found fulfillment in the Holy Ghost and served as a devoted missionary, carrying out the Lord's work with great pride.

Beatrice was united in marriage to the late Roger L. Jones on December 27th, 1949, in Nashville, NC.  Together, they raised eight children: Charles L. Jones, Richard L. Jones (deceased), Linda M. Jones, Roger Tyrone Jones, Darryl Jones (deceased at birth), Michelle G. Hudson, Derrick O. Jones, Ted Leaverman and Geanie Leaverman.

Active in her community, Beatrice worshiped at the Living Waters Apostolic Church, where she held the role of Missionary, Mother of the church, Senior Choir member, and Baptism Committee.  She was passionate about the church family as well as her own throughout her youth and into adulthood.

Beatrice is preceded in death by her two brothers, Walter Ricks, and Robert Ricks, and two sisters, Odessa Cherry, and Christine Jones.

She is survived by one living uncle, Oniles Pridgeon, 97 years old, her loving children: Charles L. Jones (Keyona), Linda M. Jones, Roger Tyrone Jones (Marsha), Michelle G. Hudson (Geoffrey), and Derrick O. Jones (Carla); as well as 11 grandchildren, Nicole Gordon-Marshall (Gordon), Charease Pridgeon (Louis), Charles Jones II (Brittney), Jessica Jones Figari (David), Roger Ty Jones II (Heather), Ramone Boyd, Monica Boyd, Myles Boyd (Tiesha), Deniya Jeffries, Leander Marsh, Tracy Marsh, 3 step great-grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Married for over seven decades, Beatrice and Roger L. Jones created a lasting legacy.  Their union produced a beautiful family that now spans generations.  Beatrice's memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
