Barton C.
Williams
d. Mar 8, 2024
Barton Calgary Williams was born on January 24, 1956 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Edward E. Williams. He passed away March 8, 2024 at the age of 68 at his home in Hampton, Virginia.
Barton was raised in Elizabeth, NJ. He attended Grover Cleveland Junior High School, Thomas Jefferson High School for two years, and finished high school in Ohio as an outstanding football player. Barton is remembered as the BIGGEST New York Giants fan EVER, always in his red, white and blue swag. He never missed a game. And he loved his cigarettes.
Barton was a hard worker and jack of all trades, hustling many jobs to get by, but he excelled in construction. He also had his own lawn care business. He was very warm hearted and friendly with a deep humorous laugh and was always full of corny jokes. He loved fishing and decorating his home for the holidays with a ton of lights which lit up the neighborhood as if it were a competition. He and his wife, Linda could be seen many times wearing matching outfits and sneakers to boot to family and friends events.
Barton was preceded in death by his father, Edward E. Williams, two brothers, Allen Melvin and Kirk Williams and son, Lawrence "Puck" LaPierre.
Barton leaves to cherish in his memory his loving wife of 31 years, Linda Williams of Hampton, VA; four sons, Jerod (Monique) McKinney of North Plainfield, NJ; Barton "Dewey" Hodge of Linden, NJ; Taj (Shakehya) Williams of Durham, NC; and Hafeez Brown of Elizabeth, NJ; and one daughter Terri "Mouse" LaPierre. He also leaves to cherish in his memory Frances Williams, his mother of 96 years young of Upper Marlboro, MD; two sisters, Sherrie Muhammed of Willingboro, NJ and Kim Williams of Upper Marlboro, MD; and brother, Brian (Jane) Melvin of Centreville, MD. He also leaves a host of grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. 23607.
