Obituary

Avery Douglas Gaynor, 55, son of George E. Gaynor and the late Esther L. Gaynor, departed this earth on Monday, August 21, 2023 at his home. He was born on September 25, 1967 in Hampton, Virginia. Avery was raised and grew up in the Aberdeen area of Hampton, where he attended the local schools. He was a graduate of Norfolk State University, Norfolk, Virginia, majoring in Building Construction. He was employed by G. E. Gaynor Building Contractor, Inc., as a Supervisor at the time of his passing. Avery's hobbies were swimming, fishing, gardening and tinkering on automobiles. He loved all types of sports and was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan.

Avery was predeceased by his mother, Esther L. Gaynor, maternal grandparents, William "Dick" Fields and Roxanna B. Fields, paternal grandparents, George W. Gaynor and Nancy L. Gaynor.

Avery is survived by his father: George E. Gaynor; brother: Adrian D. Gaynor; sister: Tommye' Gaynor-Williams (Reginald-deceased); bonus sister: Marita Beckles; goddaughters: Sierra and Shiann Fuentes; nieces: Shaughanassee Williams Vines (Terry) and Ashleigh Gaynor Anderson (DeWayne); great nieces: Isabella Jade and Rain Anderson; greatnephew: Micah Vines and a host of cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 28, 2023 at First Baptist Church -Hampton, 229 N. King Street, Hampton,Va. 23666. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
