Everyone has a story and Aveen is no different.  On Sunday, March 30. 2025, Miss Aveen Decarla Brown transitioned to be with Jesus.  Her nickname is "Beans" although we cannot remember how she got it.  Aveen was born November 23, 1961, the youngest of 5 girls and the  8th  child of Waverly and Lillian Brown on November 23, 1961, in Newport News, Virginia.  Shortly after her birth the family moved to a just built home in Hampton, Virginia where she was raised along with a total of 8 other sisters and brothers.

Aveen was employed at VCU for over 15 years. Sometime after 1985 Aveen enrolled in Saint Paul's College in Lawrenceville, Virginia where she graduated received her BS degree.  After graduating from St. Paul's, which was a HBCU school, she obtain different employment throughout Richmond, VA, where she lived for about 30 years.  She was a member of Zeta PHI Beta.

For many years Aveen was a member of Glorious Church of God, in Richmond, Virginia where she was the President of the Usher board, involved in fundraising projects (especially selling Krispy Kreme donuts) and a part of the Women Industrious Spiritual Workers (WISW) for many years.  In October, 1999, she joined Greater Works Evangelistic Ministries functioning in the capacity of Usher president for 10 years.  She also assisted as a greeter, she helped with community outreach projects soul winning campaigns and church cleanup… She was a real "door keeper" in God's house.  Aveen was blessed to live a very productive life from 1980 until 2010 all things considered.  Her main accomplishment was being "spades Queen." She thought she was the best of all times.  Tennis was her sport of the day after football and the Dallas Cowboys.
