In Loving Memory of Arrimenta Arrington Hicks June 5, 1941 – September 6, 2026 

A Life of Love, Faith, and Family

 Arrimenta Arrington Hicks was born on June 5, 1941, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, to the late Doretha Arrington and William Arrington. She was a loving daughter, devoted wife, caring mother, and cherished grandmother whose life was a blessing to all who knew her.

In her early years, Arrimenta left Rocky Mount, North Carolina, in pursuit of new opportunities, personal growth, and a brighter future. She made her way to New York, where she began a new chapter of her life and built a legacy rooted in love, family, and faith. On March 24, 1965, Arrimenta married James Hicks in their home on Hart Street in Brooklyn, New York. Together, they shared many years of marriage and created a home filled with love and memories.

One of Arrimenta’s greatest joys was cooking.  She was an excellent cook and had a special gift for bringing people together around the dinner table. Many family gatherings, especially Christmas dinners, were held at her home.  Her kitchen was a place where love was prepared, shared, and served with every meal. She was also an exceptional baker.  Her cakes were famous among her loved ones, especially her delicious pineapple coconut cake. Her cooking and baking were more than just talents—they were expressions of her love for her family. 

Arrimenta had a deep love for gospel music.  During her early days in New York, she sung with the Paradise Gospel Singers, a gospel group that became part of her life and musical journey. 

Above all, Arrimenta was a woman of faith.  Throughout the trials and tribulations she faced, she never gave up on God.  She continued to trust in Him, seek Him through prayer, and hold on to her faith even during difficult times. 

On September 6, 2026, Arrimenta peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, family, and cherished memories.  Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. 

Those she leaves to cherish her memory Arrimenta leaves behind her loving daughter, Ebony Arrington, and her stepsons Henry Eugene Hicks and Darren Hicks, she also leaves behind her beautiful grandchildren, who brought her great joy and whom she loved dearly.  She is lovingly remembered by her twin sister, Rebecca Hayes, and her sisters, Lilly, Lola, Rosetta and Felisha. 

She also leaves behind her brothers, Matthius Genesis, and Robert Earl, along with other relatives, extended family members, and dear friends who were blessed to know and love her.  To her family, she was a source of strength, comfort, and unconditional love.  Her absence will be deeply felt, but the memories she created will never end.
