Arleen Denise Peake was born June 10, 1959 in Newport News, Virginia to the late Maggie Johnson Giddings and Vernon Lee Giddings, departed this life unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 while in her home.

Denise graduated from Warwick High School ('77), attended Virginia State University and received an associate degree from Kee Business College. She attended Christ Community Outreach Center for spiritual growth and fellowship. She was an avid shopper who loved to experiment with new styles as well as good cuisine. Denise had a sweet spirit, was kind yet fiery, independent, outgoing, enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. As a child, Denise received a strong Christian foundation and as an adult enjoyed participating in Bible study.

She is survived by her daughter, Chivagnne Peake (Newport News); son, Carlos Peake, Jr. (Hampton); grandchildren, Khalid, Jaire, Acacia, Armonie, Imani, Tajhnae, Carlos III, Gianna, and Constantino; one brother, Ronald (Valerie) Giddings (Clemmons, NC); as well a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will be receiving friends at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Christ Community Outreach Center (CCOC), 13809 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, VA.

The celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Christ Community Outreach Center (CCOC), 13809 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, VA. The inurnment service will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens. The repass will be held at CCOC.

"Come to Me, all of you who are struggling and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light," (Matthew 11:28-30).
