Annie Mae Jenkins was born to the late Alexander and Gertrude Jenkins, a welder and homemaker at the time, in Newport News, VA.

On Oct. 31, 1947 Annie attended schools in Newport News, Va. and Washington D.C. and later accepted job training as a chef in Cleveland, Ohio.  Annie loved to help her family with her nieces and nephews.  She adored them.  She often went on long trips with her mother and father.

Annie is survived by her siblings Alexis Barnes, (James) Alexander Jenkins (Gerry), Vanessa Brown (Willie), Sandra Jenkins, and a host of relatives.

Ann was kind, softly spoken. She loved to communicate with people on the phone. She also loved celebrating holidays with family, barbecues, and Christmas, and Thanksgiving holidays.

A graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Gospel Spreading Church National Memorial Cemetery, 2123 Treasure Island Rd. Williamsburg, VA 23185.
