Annette JuanaKee Augustus, 63, entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Sentara Complex Hospital in Hampton, VA. She was born on June 5, 1960 in Frankfurt, Germany, to the late George Henry Augustus, Jr. and Mary Gray Augustus.
Annette was a graduate of Hampton High School, class of 1979. During her lifetime she was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding, Econo Coin Laundry & Cleaners and Boo Williams Sportsplex.
Annette touched the lives of so many. She was full of life, with a laugh and wit that were contagious. She was a selfless, beautiful soul. Annette was passionate about her family and especially proud of her son and grandchildren. A great seamstress and cook, she loved music and dancing. She freely shared her love of Jehovah God with all.
Annette is survived by a loving, devoted son, Timothy "Tim Tim" Augustus; grandchildren Ioanna Jenkins and Ahmir Augustus; sisters Margaret Augustus-Andrews and Alfreda Augustus-Phillips; brother Anthony Augustus (Kesha); sister-in-law Muriel B. Augustus; nieces Alicia Barlow (Jay) and Dr. Ashley C. A. King (Bobbie); nephews John Augustus, Delarian Augustus, Demario Augustus, Nicholas Augustus, Winston Jones, Jr. (Alyce) and Anthony Augustus, Jr.; great nephew Dashawn Augustus (Shacoria); great nieces Tiffany Augustus and Theorie Augustus; and dear friends Sandra Barnes, Carolyn Richardson Thomas, and Deborah Houston. She was a mother figure to many and loved Shaun Smith and Jarell Jackson as if they were her own sons. While also survived by a host of cousins, friends, neighbors and relatives, Annette was predeceased by her sister, Yvette Prowell, her brother, George H. Augustus, III, and a loving aunt, Margaret Lewis.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to our many friends and family for their outpouring of love and support. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00 am at Cooke Brothers Funeral Chapel, 1601 27th Street, Newport News, VA. 23607. There will be no public viewing. Interment will immediately follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens, 155 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA 23666. Professional services have been entrusted to Cooke Brothers Funeral Chapel.
