Andre Lamonte Jenkins, "Dre", born December 15, 1969 to Floyd M Jenkins, Sr. and Mildred Jenkins of Newport News.  He passed away peacefully Monday, August 26, 2024.

Andre graduated from Phoebus High School where he played in the band and on the football team. In 1987 Andre was selected for the All-Peninsula Football team in the position of offensive tackle and received a scholarship to Virginia Union University later transferring to Norfolk State University.

Andre worked in retail for more than 30 years and retired from the Wal Mart corporation due to illness in 2019. He really enjoyed his job, employees and serving the public.

Andre is survived by his mother, Midred Jenkins; his siblings, Floyd and Valarie Jenkins, Larry and Janice Jenkins, Larry Jenkins Jr., Eric Jenkins, Corey Jenkins, Zyair Jenkins; and a host of family members and friends that were dear to his heart.

Viewing will be held Friday, September 6, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. 23607. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
