Retired Chief Warrant Officer Alfred R. (Bobby) Scott, Jr. died January 20, 2025 at the age of 89.  Alfred was born April 23, 1935 in Hampton, VA where he graduated from George P. Phenix, High School in 1953.  He enlisted in the U.S.
Army in October 1953 where he remained for 27 years.

Bobby continued his education in the military receiving his A.A.S Degree from Thomas Nelson Community College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology from St. Leo, University.  Upon retiring from the Army he went to work as a DA
Civilian at Ft. Monroe for 18 years, retiring in 2000 with a total of 45 years Government Service.

He was preceded in death by his sons Michael Anthony Scott, Randy Scott, his daughter, Tarnyal  Scott, son-in-law Ernest Perry, and daughter-in-law, Angela Scott, mother & father Alma & Fletcher Wallace and grandparents Thomas and Datie Ward.

And left to cherish his memory is his loving wife & best friend, Clara L. Scott, his daughters Cynthia Beckett, Jeanell Hernandez, Angela Perry, Terri Mitchell (Terrance), his son Alvin J. Brown (Karen), and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, cousins, loving family members, caring friends, and a very special care-giver, Katrina Byrd.

Also thank you to Riverside Hospital nurses and doctor as well as Palliative Care at the VA.

Viewing will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, VA. A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1,2025 at Carver Memorial Presbyterian Church, 830-25th Street, Newport News, VA with Rev. Dr. Brian J. Wells, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. There will not be a repass because the family request privacy following the interment.
